The Art of Spot Healing
Happy Monday my loves!
Welcome to your new week; I hope you make it wonderful! This week we are talking about the art of spot healing, and boy do I have some insight to share. Ever get those pesky breakouts that just won’t go away? Go to bed with clear skin and wake up with one unkind pimple? Say no more, I’ve got you covered.
I never really had troubled skin growing up (aside from puberty, yikes) but as I get older I have discovered I am highly prone to hormonal breakouts. If you’re like me, you know that these are the WORST. They are annoying, painful and it feels like it takes years to get ride of them. I’ve tried many different spot treatments in the past (clearasil, retinoid, ect.) and found that they help disguise my problem areas, but they aren’t solving the problem completely.
That’s when I ran into the holy grail of products: pimple patches. YES PIMPLE PATCHES. At first, this technique sounded a little too good to be true. Putting a sticker on a pimple and hoping it goes away? How could this be trusted? Would it make my breakout worse? I can tell you the answer to all of this is just TRY it. I started with the Peace Out brand of patches over the holidays. It was amazing to see all of the oils and impurities that were removed into the patches overnight and how much these patches absorbed. Immediately I noticed that the pimples were flattened and less red. The inflammation was completely GONE. This made it about a million times easier to cover with cc cream and the rest of my makeup, without it being too obvious.
Recently, I’ve gone back to one of my favorite brands Patchology. This company not only has acne patches, but blackhead strips, under-eye patches and a nice conditioning patch for the lips. I purchased the Patchology Breakout Box from a med spa in Saint Augustine over the weekend, and with one use I can say that I am HOOKED. The blackhead strip was the most effective one I have ever used, and the patches stayed in place really well over night. The ingredients in the patches (salicylic acid and hyrocolloid acid) soak up all of the gunk that lies under your skin and hold them in the patch. You simply place an appropriate patch over your pimple, go to sleep, and wake up feeling brand new!
Lastly, I am always sure to protect my skin in the morning with a Vitamin C serum and SPF. Right now I am using the Drunk Elephant C-Serum and Supergoop! CC cream with SPF. The vitamin C is going to keep skin looking bright, helping to lighten dark spots, while the SPF is going to protect your spots from getting any darker (plus like save your skin ya know?).
Hope that this little breakout advice helps you through this week and beyond. Share your favorite spot treatment remedies below!
All the best,
EM
